    The injury bug is still haunting the Indianapolis Colts. Cornerback Marlin Jackson and strong safety Bob Sanders were lost for the season Friday as the team placed them on injured reserve. Jackson, who missed the second half of the 2008 season after injuring his right knee during practice, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee during a non-contact drill Wednesday.

    A person with knowledge of the injury says Indianapolis Colts cornerback Marlin Jackson will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Colts had not announced the injury. It occurred during Thursday's practice.

  • Redskins LT Samuels done for season (AP)

    Washington Redskins left tackle Chris Samuels is out for the season, and linebacker H.B. Blades and cornerback Byron Westbrook are recovering from knee surgery. The Redskins made the expected move of placing six-time Pro Bowl lineman Samuels on injured reserve Saturday. Samuels has a chronic spinal condition and will decide in a few months whether to return next season or retire.

    Peyton Manning's sore left knee is no longer an issue for the Indianapolis Colts. The three-time league MVP, who said he needed medical treatment on the knee Sunday night, gave himself a clean bill of health after finishing Wednesday's practice. "No concerns," he said. "It feels fine.

    Peyton Manning's left knee may be sore, but it doesn't appear to be a serious problem for the undefeated Colts. One day after Manning led Indianapolis to a 31-9 victory at Tennessee, coach Jim Caldwell said he had not received a doctor's report regarding the knee, something he would have expected had there been concerns.

    Kevin Garnett's knee is better, and he's waiting with uncharacteristic patience for the rest of his body to catch up. After missing 25 regular-season games and the playoffs last season because of strained ligaments in his right knee, Garnett was back on the court in Boston for the first time on Friday night in the Celtics' 96-82 exhibition victory over the New York Knicks.

    Cowboys running back Felix Jones has a sprained ligament in his left knee and his status for the upcoming game at Denver is uncertain. "It's yet to be determined how long or if he will be out very long," Dallas coach Wade Phillips said Tuesday. "It could get well quickly."   • Colts’ Brackett, Hayden out vs. Cards (AP)

    Middle linebacker Gary Brackett and cornerback Kelvin Hayden did not travel with the Indianapolis Colts to Arizona where they will play the Cardinals on Sunday night. Brackett injured his left knee late in last Sunday's victory at Miami. Hayden hurt his hamstring. Both were held out of practice this week.
