  • Injured Spurs PG Parker may miss a week (AP)

    Spurs guard Tony Parker is not expected to play Monday against Toronto because of a sore left ankle. The Spurs said Sunday that Parker's injury was a mild sprain that could sideline him for a week. Parker rolled his ankle Friday night in the second quarter of a loss at Portland. He did not return to the game.

    The boos that the Utah Jazz heard early quickly turned to cheers of "Booz!" Carlos Boozer and the Utah Jazz finally put on a show worth rooting for, beating the San Antonio Spurs 113-99 on Thursday night. The Jazz ended a two-game losing skid and undid a little of the damage done in an embarrassing loss two nights before.

    Derrick Rose was so antsy and "geeked up" to get back on the court he had to blast the music on his way to the arena. Once he arrived, he certainly seemed in tune. Or at least close. Rose scored 13 points and had seven assists to lead the balanced Chicago Bulls to an impressive 92-85 season-opening victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.

    LeBron James isn't quite over the flu. He's not that far off. James scored 22 points in 19 minutes in his return to the Cleveland lineup after staying home sick for the last game, but the San Antonio Spurs beat the Cavaliers 105-98 on Friday night. Though not completely healthy, James said he still felt pretty good after going 7 of 14 from the field and grabbing six rebounds.

  • Agent: G Bogans to sign with Spurs (AP)

    Guard Keith Bogans is the latest newcomer to the San Antonio Spurs. Bogans' agent, Michael Harrison, says he is set to sign a guaranteed one-year deal with the Spurs before training camp starts next week. San Antonio will be Bogan's fifth team in seven seasons. The 29-year-old Bogans averaged 5.6 points playing for Orlando and Milwaukee last season.

    Bruce Bowen won't be pestering the NBA's best anymore. The 38-year-old former San Antonio Spurs forward retired Thursday after 12 seasons and a reputation as one of the league's most menacing defenders, hounding opponents with a tenacity that some players groused was more dirty than dogged.
