  • Hasselbeck practices, should play Sunday (AP)

    Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck(notes) throws a pass during NFL football practice on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Renton, Wash. The practice was the first for Hasselbeck since breaking a rib in a  Sept. 20 game in San Francisco.

    All signs are pointing toward Matt Hasselbeck returning to quarterback the reeling Seahawks on Sunday against Jacksonville. The three-time Pro Bowl passer looked sharp while completing a second consecutive practice Thursday. It's his first work since he broke a rib Sept. 20 on a dive for the goal line at San Francisco.

  • Wallace likely to start for Hasselbeck (AP)

    Matt Hasselbeck granted one little guy his wish Friday. He couldn't grant all other Seahawks fans theirs. Hasselbeck missed a third consecutive practice day because of a broken rib, so the Seahawks expect backup Seneca Wallace to start at quarterback for the three-time Pro Bowl passer on Sunday against Chicago.

    Donovan McNabb is still not able to practice and it appears unlikely he will play this week. McNabb, who suffered a broken rib in a season-opening win over the Carolina Panthers, is expected to miss his second straight game as the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) meet the Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at Lincoln Financial Field.

    Vikings quarterback Brett Favre says he might have a cracked rib. Favre told ESPN before Monday night's game at Houston that he hasn't received an official diagnosis but that taking a deep breath caused him some discomfort. He also doesn't plan to wear any kind of special padding, saying "the damage is done." Favre's agent Bus Cook wrote in an e-mail to The Associated…
