  • Wolves’ Love to get hand surgery Tuesday (AP)

    Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love has been scheduled for surgery on his broken left hand. Love will have the operation in New York on Tuesday to fix a fracture in the fourth metacarpal bone in his shooting hand. The second-year player suffered the injury on a rebound last Friday in a preseason game at Chicago.

    Kevin Love went up for a rebound as he always does but this time he banged his left hand. Now, the Minnesota Timberwolves' second-year forward will be watching from the bench for awhile. Love broke a bone in his hand and the NBA's leading rookie rebounder last season hopes to return in late November or early December.

  • Rays 1B Pena hit by pitch, leaves game (AP)

    Tampa Bay slugger Carlos Pena left the opener of Monday's day-night doubleheader against the Yankees after a pitch hit his hand and was undergoing X-rays. Pena was hurt on an 0-1 offering in the first inning from CC Sabathia, with the ball hitting his left hand and then his bat.
