General manager Ed Wade said the change couldn't wait until the end of the season.

    J.A. Happ was unable to start for the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday because of a strained a side muscle. He was replaced on the mound by Jamie Moyer. The team said Happ hurt himself while taking batting practice Saturday. "I felt something and it hasn't gone away," Happ said Monday before the Phillies played the Houston Astros and tried to avoid a four-game sweep.

    Aaron Boone returned to the major leagues Tuesday, rejoining the Houston Astros just five months after having open-heart surgery. The 36-year-old third baseman was activated off the disabled list. "It's good to be in this position and back here after all that has gone through in my life this year.
