    Kevin Love went up for a rebound as he always does but this time he banged his left hand. Now, the Minnesota Timberwolves' second-year forward will be watching from the bench for awhile. Love broke a bone in his hand and the NBA's leading rookie rebounder last season hopes to return in late November or early December.

    Anthony Morrow scored 30 points off the bench and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns 104-101 in an outdoor exhibition game on Saturday night at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The game, hosted by the Suns, was played in calm conditions and with temperatures in the 70s.   • Warriors suspend disgruntled G-F Jackson (AP)

    The Golden State Warriors suspended Stephen Jackson for two exhibition games Saturday after the unhappy captain left the bench during an exhibition contest in Los Angeles. The veteran swingman picked up five fouls and a technical in less than 10 minutes Friday night while playing against the Lakers at the Forum.

    Matthew Stafford held his head down on the bench for the final snap. Dominic Raiola couldn't watch, either, fearing a 20th loss in a row and 100th setback of his nine-season career. When Detroit's leaders looked up and saw Washington was out of time, they saw what they were hoping to see Sunday.

  • Bobcats sign G Murray for 1 year, $1.9M (AP)

    The Charlotte Bobcats came to terms late Thursday with free agent guard Ronald "Flip" Murray on a one-year, $1.99 million deal. Agent Mark Termini said Murray chose the Bobcats after also having discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 12.2 points last season coming off the bench for the Atlanta Hawks, and gives coach Larry Brown more options in the backcourt.

    Officially, Tom Brady has a "sore shoulder," the result of being crushed to the turf by massive Albert Haynesworth. It caused enough discomfort for him to spend quite a while on the bench flexing and rotating his throwing arm, trying to work out whatever kinks where there. It could be nothing.
